Egypt news Egypt after 25th of Jan(egypttoursandexcursions.com.)

This year Valentine’s Day was celebrated a bit differently in Hurghada than the previous ones.
Instead of spending the day with only the loved ones, the local and foreign residents, tourists and visitors gathered together in front of Esplanada Mall to celebrate the “WE LOVE EGYPT” event and show the world that the Red Sea is safe and ready for tourists to come back.
Since the end of January, when the protests in Egypt began, tourism in the Red Sea went down completely. The normally crowded streets and hotels of Hurghada and surrounding areas are now empty and more and more facilities are closing down due to a lack of income. Travel warnings to Egypt were given out from most countries, which caused a large number of cancellations and change of reservations. Simply the British market kept their flights to Egypt.
On Valentine’s Day 2011 the tourism industry of Hurghada joined efforts to organise WE LOVE EGYPT and thank the tourists, who decided to visit the destination apart from all warnings that were given out.
More than 1000 tourists and locals came to the event to show the world that the Red Sea is safe and has been safe contrary to all warnings. Four different bands were playing live on stage while the crowd was celebrating and waving Egyptian flags showing their love for the country that managed to achieve the impossible.

Denmark, Sweden ease Egypt travel recommendations COPENHAGEN, February 15, 2011 (AFP) - The Danish foreign ministry on Tuesday eased its recommendations for travel to Egypt, telling its citizens it was safe to visit the tourist resorts along the Red Sea.The ministry however maintained its advice to avoid all non-essential travel to the rest Egypt, it said on its website.
Post-revolution, Facebook's political relevance in Egypt endures Much has been written about how the success of Egypt's recent revolution showed how social networking website Facebook represents a threat to entrenched, authoritarian governments throughout the world. More recently, however, Facebook has taken on an additional role as a space in which to convene and discuss how to build a nation’s future.

St Simeon's Monastery For 28,31 €

Today you will join egypttoursandexcursions.com to a camel ride to the southern tip of Elephantine Island where you will find St Simeon's Monastery, an ancient, abandoned fortress monastery mostly built during the 7th century and located near Aswan. The monastery was given the name St Simeon by archaeologists and travelers, but earlier Arabic and Coptic sources called it Anba Hatre (Hidra, Hadri, Hadra), after an anchorite who was consecrated a bishop of Syene (now Aswan) by Patriarch Theophilus (385-412 AD). Anba Hatre married at the age of eighteen. Tradition says that just after the wedding, he encountered a funeral procession which inspired him to preserve his chastity and later become a disciple of Saint Baiman. After eight years of ascetic practices under the supervision of his teacher, he retired to the desert and applied himself to the study of the life of Saint Antony. He died during the time of Theodosius I.

Felucca Tour to Elephantine Island For 20 €

With artifacts which date back to the predynastic periods, Elephantine Island is one of the most ancient sites in Egypt. Spend a few hours with egypttoursandexcursions.com exploring the largest island of the region which has an important role on Egyptian history. Elephantine Island is the largest of the Aswan area islands, and is one of the most ancient sites in Egypt, with artifacts dating to predynastic periods. This is probably due to its location at the first Cataract of the Nile, which provided a natural boundary between Egypt and Nubia. As an island, it was also easily defensible. In fact, the ancient town located in the southern part of the island was also a fortress through much of it's history. At one time, there was a bridge from the mainland to the island. Elephantine is Greek for elephant. In ancient times, the Island, as well as the southern town, was called Abu, or Yabu, which also meant elephant. The town has also been referenced as Kom, after it's principle god of the island, Khnum (Khnemu). It is believed that the island received it's name because it was a major ivory trading center, though in fact, it was a major trading post of many commodities. There are large boulders in the river near the island which resembled bathing elephants, particularly from afar, and this too has been suggested as a reason for the island's name.
Please note: In the event of strong Nile currents, travel will be by motorboat rather than felucca for safety reasons.

Kalabsha Temple on Lake Nasser From Aswan For 25 €

On the banks of Lake Nasser lies Kalabsha Temple, an often overlooked jewel of Aswan. egypttoursandexcursions.com  Egyptologist guide is waiting to take you on a private tour to the temple to help you unlock its secrets. For two years from 1961, Kalabsha Temple was dismantled into 15,000 pieces and moved block by block to its current location on the banks of Lake Nasser. It was just one of 18 temples and monuments moved in order to preserve them from the rising Nile water created by the construction of Aswan's High Dam. The temple which is dedicated to the Egyptian god Horus and the Nubian god Mandulis, was originally built just after the Ptolemy period, the era after Alexander the Great's death (323BC). The facade of the temple is undecorated suggesting it was never finish by its original builder, the Roman emperor Octavius Augustus. Despite being unfinished, Kalabsha Temple is considered the most complete, and largest free-standing temple in Nubia. The inner walls feature Egyptian artwork including a carving of St George slaying a dragon and Coptic crosses, showing the influence of Christians who used the temple as a church during the Roman persecution. Another piece of art work which is a feature of the temple is a carving declaring the prohibition of eating pork which is carved in Meroitic. This language remains a mystery to Egyptologists today, with its origin still unknown. Your private tour from Aswan includes a qualified Egyptologist guide, entrance fees and transportation from your Aswan hotel.
